If you were one of the millions of people who watched Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, there's a huge chance you're worried that Miguel O'Hara will be fighting against Miles Morales. However, Shameik Moore is quick to defend Spider-Man 2099's actions in the animated sequel.
Shameik Moore Insists Miguel O'Hara is NOT Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Villain
In Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales got on Miguel O'Hara's bad side by preventing a canon event in Mumbattan and trying to stop another one in his own universe. Spider-Man 2099 enlists Jessica Drew and Scarlet Spider to search for Miles on Earth-1610.
It may sound like Spider-Man 2099 is really going after Miles but Miles voice actor Shameik Moore explained to GamesRadar that it's all just a difference in opinion.
“We all have a duty as humans to follow a moral compass, to do what we feel is right - and what feels right to you might not feel right to me,” Moore said. “That might cause a little friction, hence Miguel and Miles.”
“But Miguel is there to do what Miguel is supposed to do - he’s not the bad guy, he’s just not on the same side of the fence as Miles is,” he added. “And that’s okay, that’s good, it goes back to inclusivity.”
“We can’t shun Miguel, he’s there for a reason as is Miles,” Moore continued.
“That’s what makes the Spider-Verse what it is - we need more than Miles, we need more than Miguel, we need more than Peter because together, that’s when we really make a difference, that’s when true impact and change comes. Power lies in unity,” he concluded.
Shameik Moore certainly has a point there. Although we're all rooting for Miles, Miguel has his reasons for trying to stop the boy. Needless to say, we're hoping they eventually learn to work together in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now screening in theaters worldwide.
