Spider-Man 3: Willem Dafoe Spotted on Set of MCU Sequel

It looks like another major villain will be joining Spider-Man 3. A new report reveals that Willem Dafoe has been spotted on the set of the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel which could confirm his return as Green Goblin.

The GWW reports that their sources have seen Dafoe on the set of Spider-Man 3. Although details about the Aquaman star's appearance on the set were not disclosed, it certainly confirms the previous casting news about his involvement in the upcoming MCU flick.

Interestingly, the intel was reportedly provided by the same sources who confirmed Alfred Molina's involvement in Spider-Man 3. With that in mind, it could only be a matter of time before Disney, Marvel Studios, and Sony Pictures confirm Dafoe's casting.

Dafoe first played Norman Osborn in 2002's Spider-Man, a role he would reprise in two more films. Although the character was killed on in the first movie, Norman appeared as a hallucination to his son Harry Osborn, who would eventually become New Goblin.

It's not exactly a huge surprise if Dafoe is confirmed to return in Spider-Man 3. After all, the film has already added Molina as Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx as Electro. If Dafoe will appear in the sequel, it could take the film one step closer to completing the Sinister Six.

Spider-Man 3 will bring back Tom Holland as Peter Parker, who is set to face a major problem in the film after the events in Spider-Man: Far From Home. In the previous movie, Peter's identity was revealed which could make him an easy target for every villain.

The still-untitled Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
