Spider-Man 3: Tom Holland Debunks Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Casting

Fans are already expecting to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield return as two different Peter Parkers in Spider-Man 3. However, Tom Holland has just debunked all those casting rumors.

People have been excited about a possible live-action Spider-Verse take for some time now. Last year, there were several reports confirming that Maguire and Garfield will appear in Spider-Man 3 soon after it was announced that Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro.

But are Maguire and Garfield actually working on Spider-Man 3? Holland recently spoke to Esquire where he debunked the casting rumors.

"No, no, they will not be appearing in this film," Holland said. Interestingly, he even pointed out that this particular casting news wouldn't be withheld from him.

"Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me," Holland stated.

We already know that Holland has a tendency of spoiling the Marvel Cinematic Universe films in his interviews. However, the Cherry actor has avoided leaking anything about Spider-Man 3 so far although he was given a full script.

So what can we expect in Spider-Man 3? Holland confirmed that the sequel will be "a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we've been making." This means that it probably won't have the whole Spider-Verse plot at all.

Although it's disappointing to know that Maguire and Garfield are not in the movie, it makes sense for Spider-Man 3 to focus on the current Spider-Man. After all, the previous movie concluded with Peter's identity being revealed and we can't wait to find out how he deals with this dilemma.

The still-untitled Spider-Man 3 is currently in production in Atlanta. The sequel is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
