Hold on to the edge of your seats, Marvel fans because this one is gonna be mind-blowing! Following the shocking news that broke out last week regarding Jamie Foxx's involvement in the third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland, new rumors suggest that Sony is actually entertaining the idea of including more characters from the previous non-MCU Spidey flicks to the already stacked and epic offering.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), the folks over at Sony are considering bringing back the original big-screen Mary Jane Watson, a character that was portrayed effectively by Kirsten Dunst in three Spider-Man films. Previous reports claim that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have been approached by both Sony and Marvel Studios for the project but no official confirmation has been made. For now, take everything with a grain of salt but at the same time, be open to the possibilities.

A lot of fans, especially the ones who grew up with the Sam Raimi trilogy have a soft spot for Kirsten's take on the iconic love interest of Peter Parker. Sure, the live-action version of Mary Jane was poorly-written and mishandled all throughout the trilogy but her on-screen chemistry with Tobey Maguire cannot be denied. In fact, I can even go as far as saying that to this day, none of the live-action Spider-Man couples have replicated the magic Tobey and Kirsten had as Peter and Mary Jane and that says a lot. It felt natural and the two really clicked together. Now, as for the other characters that could appear in the film, if Kirsten's MJ is appearing, could we see people like James Franco and Emma Stone return to the fold? I know they're dead in their respective franchises but that's the beauty (and mystery) of the Marvel Multiverse. It's extremely unpredictable.

The yet-to-be-titled third Spider-Man film is rumored to begin filming this fall.
