Spider-Man 3 Allegedly in Talks with Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church for Return

We already know that besides the returning Spider-Men, Spider-Man 3 will also bring back villains like Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Doc Ock (Alfred Molina). What's interesting is that two more Sam Raimi Spidey villains could be making a return.

The Illuminerdi reports that Willem Dafoe (Norman Osborn/Green Goblin) and Thomas Haden Church (Flint Marko/Sandman) are currently in negotiations with Sony for a comeback in Spider-Man 3. We don't have any details as to the size of either role, but with the numerous characters that have already been reported, I'm just hoping that it's for a short cameo.

With ‘overpopulated' being a word that's been thrown around for Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it looks like this upcoming Spidey film is going to try that again, but with 3 times the cast members. While it does worry some fans, hopefully, Sony has finally learned to just keep the focus on essential characters in the movie. I mean, if Marvel Studios was able to pull off Avengers: Endgame, they could probably do the same with Spider-Man 3 as long as they don't lean too hard on the fanservice.

At this point, fans are already sure that there's going to be some Multiverse hijinks when it comes to the movie, but we don't really know how things are going to play out. Doctor Strange is expected to be another major player in the film, but hopefully, the movie doesn't lose focus on the main hero—Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Catch Spider-Man 3 when it hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
