On top of the new OVA being released in Japan, Sound! Euphonium fans were treated to even more good news. After much anticipation, Kyoto Animation finally confirmed that Sound! Euphonium Season 3 will be released in April 2024.
While there have been several projects in the series over the past couple of years, it has been a long wait for the third season, especially considering how Season 2 was released in Fall 2016 – almost seven years ago now.
Despite the new season still being over half a year away, fans can at least look forward to the new OVA which was released recently in Japanese cinemas.
Sound! Euphonium Makes a Triumphant Return With New OVA
Kyoto Animation (or KyoAni for short) is a popular anime studio that’s best known for titles like K-On!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Violet Evergarden.
In 2019, the studio suffered a tragic arson attack that killed 36 people in the studio. Because of this, KyoAni’s output has also dropped significantly in the aftermath.
But in 2021, the studio made its triumphant TV anime return with Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S. Along with this, the studio has also released other works, the latest being the new Sound! Euphonium OVA.
This new OVA adapts the Ensemble Contest arc of the manga, and it was released in Japan with a theatrical run that began on August 4, 2023.
For now, there’s no word yet on a theatrical or streaming release for the OVA outside of Japan, but chances are that it will get a release sometime soon to hype up the next season.

Kyoto Animation Reveals Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Release Date
KyoAni previously announced the anime’s third season back in 2019. But it was only recently that it was confirmed to be a third season that’s set to release in Spring 2024.
The third season’s release was confirmed in a teaser that was shown at the end of the OVA theater release.
Specifically, the teaser mentions that fans will see the Kitauji band “next spring.”
Soon after, the anime’s official Twitter account shared a new visual featuring Kumiko Oumae. It also confirmed that the third season will indeed release in Spring next year.
There’s currently no word yet on which streaming platform the show will be released on outside Japan.
It’s likely that Sound! Euphonium Season 3 will get a simultaneous streaming release internationally in April 2024 given the series’ and KyoAni’s popularity.
