Despite the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony Pictures is still adamant about expanding its own universe centered on the web-slinger. While the production company has been sharing the rights to the character with Marvel Studios since 2016, there are persistent reports claiming the partnership is coming to an end.

The confirmation that a fourth MCU Spider-Man film is already in production pretty much dismissed that but that's not to say that Sony can't change their minds in the coming years. Now, a wild new leak suggests that Tom Holland may permanently stick around on Earth-616 as its friendly neighborhood Spidey.

According to a recent 4chan leak posted on Reddit, Sony is casting a young Peter Parker in Venom 3 who will serve as the franchise's main Spider-Man. The leak claims that the threequel's plot will revolve around Venom wanting to kill Peter after learning that it's their destiny to be eradicated by Spider-Man at some point.

Venom's host Eddie Brock refuses to kill young Peter and it eventually leads to them doing everything in their power to save the boy from Toxin, another symbiote creature. The authenticity of the leak remains unconfirmed so of course, take this one with a huge grain of salt.

From a continuity standpoint, it makes perfect sense because despite the multiverse being a thing, Sony's Spider-Verse is still its own thing at the end of the day. Moreover, we saw Eddie Brock return to his own world in Spider-Man: No Way Home and left a piece of the symbiote in Earth-616 which pretty much suggests that the MCU will have its own Venom.

Now, whether or not this eliminates any possibility of Holland crossing over to the SonyVerse remains to be seen.

Venom 3 is currently in development.
