Sony Officially Working on Venom Sequel with Carnage, Movie’s Co-Writer Already Penning Script

Who wants more Venom? Apparently, a lot of people do as the movie made a ton of money around the world, grossing over $800 million. The film itself wasn't loved by critics but fans seemed to enjoy it despite the negative press, proving that decent visual effects and Tom Hardy is a formula for success. Those fans are about to get their wish as it looks like a sequel is officially underway.

Variety reported that Kelly Marcel will return as one of the film's writers and is penning a script as we speak. Tom Hardy is also expected to return, which many expect since he was the star of the first movie. The report also claims that Woody Harrelson will be back as Cletus Cassidy aka Carnage, which was teased in the movie's post-credits sequence.

No reports yet on what the movie will be called since sequels are ditching the numerical method these days. Spider-Man: Homecoming will have a sequel called Spider-Man: Far From Home for example. Then again, this is a Sony product and the company had several Spider-Man films with numbers to indicate which part they were.

Due to the success of Venom, Sony will continue making Spider-Man spin-off films that won't have the wallcrawler, aside from animated Spider-Verse sequels. Jared Leto's Morbius film is reportedly beginning production and a Kraven the Hunter movie is also expected to be made.

Venom is now available in Blu-Ray and DVD.
