There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 now that we have the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel. However, there is one particular thing that Ben Schwartz is truly excited about in the film. The voice of the blue speedster has just hyped up Idris Elba's performance as Knuckles. In addition to that, Schwartz is eager for fans to see Colleen O'Shaughnessey's return as Tails!

Ben Schwartz recently spoke to Comicbook.com to promote Apple TV+'s The Afterparty. Although he promised not to spoil anything about the movie, Schwartz was also more than happy to talk about Sonic 2 and couldn't stop gushing about his new co-stars.

"This is what I'll say, we've got Colleen O'Shaughnessey, who was from the video game and played Tails, she plays Tails, Idris Elba's Knuckles, they're both awesome in it and they look awesome," Schwartz said. He then added that "Jim Carrey is incredible in it."

Those are not the only co-stars that Schwartz was happy to talk about. "Incredible guest stars. Natasha Rothwell, who's a powerhouse of a comedian, Adam Pally, who worked with [The Afterparty co-star] Sam [Richardson] and who's worked with me before, is in it and incredibly funny in it," he continued.

It certainly sounds like Schwartz had a wonderful time working on Sonic 2. So far, we've only seen a glimpse at Idris Elba's Knuckles and Colleen O'Shaughnessey's Tails. However, there is little doubt that we'll see more of them when the next trailer for the sequel is dropped later this year.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also bring back James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Tom and Maddie Wachowski. Shemar Moore will join the cast but his role is still undisclosed. Sonic 2 will hit theaters on April 8, 2022.
