Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Gets Awesome Japanese Title

We just got the first awesome trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and it confirms the return of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. However, Japanese audiences have a different reason to be hyped up for the highly anticipated sequel. The official Japanese title for the movie has just been revealed and it could confirm that the film will focus on an epic showdown between the titular hero and a new character.

It has already been confirmed that the upcoming sequel will be titled Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's hardly the most imaginative title but it does confirm it's the second film in the new franchise. On the other hand, Japanese audiences are already getting hyped up for the movie because of its exciting title.

That's right, the film will be released as Sonic vs Knuckles in Japan. It's certainly a more interesting title compared to the English-language one and it pretty much confirms what Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is going to be about.

It's already been confirmed that Knuckles will debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. However, there were speculations that the red echidna will only serve as a sidekick to Dr. Eggman who is the true villain of the movie. Still, the trailer has already given us an idea that Sonic will go up against Knuckles as well.

For now, it's highly unlikely that Knuckles will be a minor character in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. After all, the echidna will be voiced by Idris Elba and fans are hoping that Knuckles will get to prove that he is one of the good guys. Needless to say, we can't wait to see what happens to the character in the sequel.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is directed by Jeff Fowler and will star James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey. The sequel hits theaters on April 8, 2022.
