Song Kang Ho and Ye Ji Won scored a new milestone together.

Both debuted in 1991, Song Kang Ho and Ye Ji Won have been successful in their own ways.

For Song Kang Ho, he made his debut in The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well and went on to score notable roles, including No. 3, The Host, Joint Security Area, Memories of Murder, Snowpiercer, and Parasite.

Meanwhile, actress Ye Ji Won became famous for her role in Old Miss Diary though he appeared in more flicks like 2424, The First Amendment of Korea, Femme Fatal, What Happened Last Night?, Vanishing, Invitation, Juliet's Man, The Producers, and Love Affairs in the Afternoon.

With their decades-old of career, they recently managed to outshine other artists and became the recipient of a prestigious award.

Song Kang Ho, Ye Ji Won Win Étoile du Cinéma

Korea JoongAng Daily reported the French embassy's confirmation on Monday regarding the award ceremony held over the weekend. The Étoile du Cinéma recognizes the contribution of Korean and French cinemas. It holds the event annually to give awards to people in the movie industry.

The Saturday event was held at the Paradise Hotel Busan, with both actor and actress honored at the French Night event.

Song Kang Ho said after receiving the award, "I remember watching a film at the French Cultural Center in Anguk [central Seoul. It was my first step into films. I'm so moved and honored to receive this award 36 years after that."

Meanwhile, Ye Ji Won expressed her gratitude in French, saying she is thankful to receive the recognition with the actor.

The Return of Étoile du Cinéma

Song Kang Ho and Ye Ji Won attended the event, marking the first ceremony in two years after postponing it due to COVID-19.

The Director of the Busan International Film Festival, Huh Moon Young, quoted what French director Jean Renoir wrote in his biography about being a citizen of the film media than being a citizen of France.

French Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission's Julien Cats said, "Korean and French films have respected and influenced each other for a long time. Through this event, I want to appreciate the efforts of Koreans in the movie industry who are striving to promote the excellence and variety of Korean films."
