A showdown between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo is brewing as they star in their new respective shows, following the success of the 2016 hit K-drama series called Descendants of the Sun.
As a matter of fact, Netflix recently released the trailer of Song Hye Kyo’s imminent series titled The Glory, which is a masterpiece of Stranger director An Gil Ho and Guardian: The Loney and Great God director Kim Eun Sook.
It was revealed that the first installment of Song Hye Kyo’s new series would have eight episodes. Netflix described the show as “a drama, coupled with revenge, bullying, childhood trauma, and confrontation.”
The Glory centers on Dong Eun, portrayed by Song Hye Kyo, who has painful memories from bullying and school violence. Eighteen years later, her revenge kicked off by driving all the perpetrators and everyone around them to the brink of ruin.
Yeo Jung, played by Lee Do Hyun, is another victim of a miserable tragedy. Fate, then, let Dong Eun and Yeo Jung meet and conspire their acts of revenge together.
Song Hye Kyo, as shown in the official The Glory trailer, has revealed a hitherto unseen dark side, as she built her career through romantic comedies such as Full House and heavy dramas such as Encounter.
Alongside Reborn Rich, featuring her ex-husband and Descendants of the Sun co-star Song Joong-ki, The Glory brand-new level of acting and mystery would provide a formidable challenge in the rating race.
Meanwhile, Nielsen Korea reported that JTBC's smash drama Reborn Rich is on course to become one of the most-watched television programs in South Korea.
The most recent episode, which aired on Sunday, was viewed by 21.1 percent of viewers, making it the first episode of a terrestrial broadcast or cable series this year to surpass a 20 percent audience rating. The top audience figures for Extraordinary Attorney Woo on cable station ENA and The Queen's Umbrella on tvN were 17.5% and 16.9%, respectively.
The 16-episode series premiered on November 18 to a viewership rating of 6.1 percent, which increased to 17 percent by Friday, making it the highest-rated program in its time slot.

Good Data Corp. announced Monday that Song Joong-ki, Shin Hyun-bin, and Lee Sung-min have dominated the weekly rankings of the most viral actors for the third consecutive week.
Since its premiere on November 18, Reborn Rich has also topped the company's weekly list of the most-discussed television dramas. In order to determine the ranking, the company watches and accumulates data from internet posts, videos, social media, news articles, and blog posts.
Adapted from the same-titled web novel by San Kyung, Reborn Rich follows Yoon Hyeon-woo (Song Joong-ki), a personal assistant to the family of top conglomerate Soonyang who is assigned in charge of the organization's finances.
Despite his loyalty to the family, the secretary was allegedly murdered by a member of the brood. Yoon is reincarnated as Jin Do-jun, the grandson of the chairman of the Soonyang group, with his memory as Yoon Hyeon-woo intact.
