Song Hye Kyo Talks About The Forthcoming Now, We Are Breaking Up Series
Song Hye Kyo shared that the imminent K-drama show is very different from the series she filmed before. The Encounter star revealed that she has made some changes externally and internally now that she is in her late 30s already.
"I get asked, ‘Are you doing another romance drama?' but I think that in the romance dramas I acted in during my 20s, during my 30s, and now, I'm changing externally and internally, and I believe there are small differences in the feelings I portray as I act. I think that as time passes and I build myself through various experiences, the aspects I express while acting, even if it's of the same situation, will definitely be different from the past."
Song Hye Kyo also explained that there have been a lot of diverse female-centric projects to choose from in recent times because of the rise in numerous new platforms. Though Hye Kyo said that her character in Now, We Are Breaking Up is different from her past portrayals, she could somewhat relate to her as she is someone who is similar to her age.
"The female lead of ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up' is not one from a fairytale-like fantasy romance. She's a character who's similar to my age, and her worries and situations were very realistic. Ha Young Eun approaches work and love in an active and powerful way. In love or in a relationship, she loves herself first, and she has a wise and healthy mindset regarding love and her relationship with those around her. I really wanted to act as this character of Ha Young Eun in a new way."
For starters, the character of Song Hye Kyo in Now, We Are Breaking Up is named Ha Young Eun, who is a manager of a design team at a fashion label. Though the character has undeniable talent, she is said to have a cold and stiff personality, which raised fans' anticipation. Hye Kyo clarified that, although most of her avid followers look forward to her fashion choices in the upcoming K-drama, her character is not the fancy person they think she is.
"I think my fans are looking forward to that aspect a lot. And because it's a fashion-related drama, they think I'll appear with very fancy visuals. But Ha Young Eun herself is not so much fancy, but more sophisticated and trendy, so I think I'll be showing you an image that fits that character. I don't think being fancy necessarily means being fashionable. The image that fits Ha Young Eun is one that's basic and minimal. But I am wearing many more pretty jewelry and outfits compared to my previous project. It's been a while since I've played a character I can comfortably spruce myself up for, so I'm having fun filming."
Song Hye Kyo also shared that filming the forthcoming K-drama series was not easy even before the COVID-19 pandemic. The Now, We Are Breaking Up actress stated that most scenes need to be shot in safe conditions; thus, extra care is needed.
The ex-ladylove of Song Joong Ki added that all of the staff and cast are very tired because of this. However, Song Hye Kyo assured that viewers would not be disappointed when the drama hits the small screens in late autumn.
Song Hye Kyo Reveals Details On Her Another Project Called The Glory
Aside from Now, We Are Breaking Up, Song Hye Kyo will also star in another upcoming K-drama series titled The Glory. The eight-episode revenge-themed series will center on the story of a former school violence victim who will become the homeroom teacher of her perpetrator's kid. Asked for her feelings in doing the new show, Hye Kyo said:
"‘The Glory' is of a genre that I haven't experienced often in the past. It was a genre I've always wanted to try, so I'm excited, worried, and nervous… those are the feelings I keep getting. But even though it's hard, I think I'll be able to enjoy acting. I'm excited to know what Kim Eun Sook's [revenge story] will be like and what it will be like to work with director Ahn Gil Ho. After wrapping up ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up' well, I have to work hard on my next project again."
Besides Song Hye Kyo, there are no other confirmed cast members announced as of this writing. However, Ahn Gil Ho and Kim Eun Soon with direct and write, respectively, The Glory, which is scheduled to be released before the current year ends.
