Captain America: Civil War is one of the most highly-anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only will it feature a slew of superheroes that we've seen in the MCU, it's also expected to showcase one of the biggest battles in the Marvel Universe so far.
The Civil War release is only a few months away and to build up the hype, some theaters have decided to offer a Captain America movie marathon which will show all movies that Steve Rogers have appeared in leading up to Civil War.
According to Fandango, the Captain America marathon will feature four movies before Civil War. These include Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers:Age of Ultron.
The shortest film in the lot is The First Avenger, which will run for a good two hours, while the longest is Age of Ultron, which spans a total of 141 minutes. Meanwhile, it was revealed yesterday that Civil War will run for 2 hours and 26 minutes, which makes it Marvel's longest-running movie to date. This new marathon offering from some theaters is more practical than other marathons prior to previous Marvel movies that featured every MCU film.
Captain America marathon or not, I think Civil War will be packed with enough rich narrative and superhero action that will make seeing it on the big screen worthwhile. Considering its whopping 146 minutes of runtime, I'm expecting each character will get an appropriate amount of screen time.
Civil War will see the Avengers divided over the world's governments' passing of the Sokovia Accords. Pro-government Team Iron Man includes Black Widow, Vision, War Machine, and Black Panther, while anti-Sokovia Accords Team Capincludes Ant-Man, Falcon, The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch. Spider-Man's side is still yet to be revealed.
Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6, while the Captain America-a-thon will begin on May 5.
