Solo Writer Teases Development Start for Willow

Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan has confirmed last month that he has completed a pilot script for a Willow series, and it looks like things are pushing forward with Disney. Just in, Kasdan has put up a post on Twitter that possibly confirms that development has begun for Disney+'s Willow.

Check it out:

Of course, this isn't any solid confirmation, but it would make sense that Lucasfilm would finally want to start working on franchises other than Star Wars. After the fiasco that is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it would make sense for the studio to try their hand on other beloved IPs that they own besides Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

As for the story of this Willow series, I have no idea what to expect. Admittedly the original film can get kind of corny, but I'm sure that it's become a cult classic over the years. If they were to go the reboot/sequel route, I'm sure that Warwick Davis should be involved one way or another; Val Kilmer is a stretch, but how could you not include Madmartigan?

Personally I would love to see Kasdan give us a follow-up on Solo, but seeing as Lucasfilm is still trying to gain their footing with the franchise again, it could be a while before we get any updates. While I would love a theatrically released film, I guess I would be fine with a Disney+ series. The Mandalorian turned out fine, so maybe Solo: The Series could work one way or another.

A Willow series hasn't been officially announced by Disney+, but hopefully, we get a significant update as the year trudges along.
