Since starting as a weak E-Rank Hunter, Solo Leveling protagonist Sung Jin-Woo has gained the unique ability to level up, allowing him to become incredibly strong.

Jin-Woo has shown the fruits of his leveling efforts by defeating lots of fearsome monsters. In Episode 9, he even defeated the B-rank hunter Kang Taeshik.

After reaching a certain level in Episode 10, Jin-Woo is offered the job change quest which he accepts and begins in Episode 11.

He then gets teleported into a dungeon to face off against waves of enemies. After defeating these, Jin-Woo is faced with Blood Red Knight Commander Igris.

True to his name, Igris is a knight with the strength of an A-Rank hunter. Jin-Woo stated before that his power is still not enough to beat an A-Rank, meaning Igris is his most difficult fight yet.

The Red Knight Commander Igris is a shadow soldier who faces off against Jin-Woo after he starts the job change quest.

As explained in the later chapters of the manhwa, shadow soldiers are special undead beings that were brought back to life by the Shadow Monarch.

Despite being undead, Igris still retains some of his knightly traits. For instance, he threw his sword away when Jin-Woo decided to fight him bare-handed.

While Igris’ previous form won’t be shown in the story, he is confirmed in the manhwa to be one of Ashborn’s strongest soldiers. His fight against Jin-Woo was also revealed to be a test.
