Solo A Star Wars Story: Donald Glover Talks Billy Dee Williams' Reaction to His Lando Calrissian

Initial reactions for Solo: A Star Wars Story have been giving praise to Donald Glover for his charismatic take on smuggler Lando Calrissian, but what people want to know is: What does the original Lando think?

Taking to ComicBook, Glover shared a text he received from Billy Dee Williams after the screening of Solo. He shares:

"[Williams] said, 'You did a good job.' That was all I wanted, all I needed."

Glover continues:

"It definitely made me feel like I didn't let him down… He was such an iconic figure in the first one, in The Empire Strikes Back, that I definitely didn't want to let him down."

Though the role of Lando may have been a big deal for everyone in the fandom, it seems that Williams himself never thought much of the role. Glover had said before that when he met up with Williams to discuss the part of Lando, Williams was said to have shot down all of Glover's ideas to give him this simple advice: "Be charming."

Like everyone else in Star Wars, nobody thought that the role of Lando (or any other character) would end up being so iconic in the long run. The way it looks, Williams was just given a role, and he just did his job. No hard research or method acting required. Heck, he didn't even say "Han" right.

Catch Glover's Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story out on May 25.
