In Episode 8 of Snowpiercer Season 3, Setting Things Right, Alex and Ben both tell Layton that there is a possibility that Melanie may still be alive somewhere. When she tells everyone that the reason for this is Wilford, Layton’s suspicions arise but still, he remains on track to rerouting the train to look for Melanie. In doing so, Asha detected that there is a huge amount of sulfur dioxide in the air.

Javi and Sykes proceed to the train cars to ensure that none of the toxic gas would enter the train, however, they found that there is a breach in the Agriculture car and that the toxic gas is slowly spreading into the nearby car. Sykes tried to fix the breach but fainted because of the gas.

Layton and Asha take their suits and they try to fix the breach following the instructions of Ben. Layton failed to go through the small window to close the opening. When he tries to remove the suit, Asha hits him so only she would come out of the suit and make the ultimate sacrifice for everyone on the train, especially, Layton, as she knows how important he is to the citizens of Snowpiercer.
