Snoke Hinted At The Last Jedi And Episode IX Titles In The Force Awakens

People were undoubtedly stunned when the official title of Star Wars Episode IX was finally revealed at the recent Star Wars Celebration. However, Supreme Leader Snoke may have already told us about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker a long time ago.

Interestingly, the title of Episode IX is not the only thing that Snoke revealed in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The villain even offered a clue as to what Episode VIII will be called when he finally showed up in TFA.

A Reddit post has pointed out that Snoke's first line in The Force Awakens hinted at not one but two Star Wars movies.

"The droid will soon be delivered to the resistance, leading them to The Last Jedi. If Skywalker returns, the new Jedi will Rise," Snoke said.

Fans have already noted that Snoke mentioned "the last Jedi" as soon as the title was revealed. Interestingly, the same line also teased that Skywalker's return would actually lead to the rise of a new Force user.

But did Snoke actually mean that a new (or true) Skywalker will rise? It was previously reported that Skywalker that is being referred to in the title is actually Rey and not Kylo Ren. The theory purports that Rey could be a Skywalker that the Chiss referred to and used to navigate the Unknown Realms in Thrawn: Alliances.

In the novel, Thrawn revealed that the Chiss used female Force users to navigate their ships through hyperspace travel. The Chiss referred to these children as "skywalkers" because they could see beyond space and time. It's possible that Rey will be this kind of Skywalker and not necessarily someone who was born with the name.

It's certainly an interesting theory. However, we still recommend taking it with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on December 20.
