Slimer Could Be in the New Ghostbusters After All

Last week, the big news on the Ghostbusters reboot had been a toy at the New York Toy Show showing a first look of the movie's main villain. But along with the villain, we also saw a toy of Slimer.

At the time, we didn't think anything of it since Ghostbusters Director Paul Feig has debunked an IMDB detail a few months ago showing Simpsons voice actor Dan Castellaneta as voicing the famous green ghost.

Take a look:

Now, we're not so sure anymore since a recent interview of Michael K. Williams with Entertainment Weekly Radio of the 49-year-old actor saying, rather enthusiastically, that he shot a scene with Slimer.

Williams, who plays an FBI agent in the Ghostbusters reboot, said:

I'm not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope. But... I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I'm in a scene with Slimer! I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true.

Williams' affirmation comes as a bit of a confusing piece of information since Feig seemed so adamant debunking the IMDB post. The interview could mean other things however. Williams could have mistaken Slimer as another ghost that looked similar to the green ghost. Consecutively, when Feig said that the "IMDB credit" was "not true," he could have simply meant that the voice acting credit wasn't correct and that Slimer will still appear in the film.

If ever Slimer does come back in the Ghostbusters reboot, then he'll be the only character reprising his role from the original film. Other returnees include Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver, but they won't return as their old characters.

The new Ghostbusters is slated for release on July 15.

What do you think of Slimer's possible return?
