Skip and Loafer is quietly becoming a stand-out of Spring 2023 thanks to the great chemistry of its leads. This budding relationship between Shima and Mitsumi is exactly what Skip and Loafer voice actor Akinori Egoshi talked about during an interview.
Egoshi is the voice of Sousuke Shima, the warm yet mysterious guy that is drawn to the protagonist, Mitsumi.
Recently, Egoshi was interviewed by Animate Times. There, he explained why he thinks Shima is drawn to Mitsumi.
He also shared why he personally loves Mitsumi as a character.

Aside from how realistically it depicts high school life, Skip and Loafer is also praised for its adorable main character, Mitsumi. This is an opinion that is echoed by Egoshi as revealed in his recent interview.
Specifically, Egoshi said that the events of the first episode made him fall in love with Mitsumi.
Egoshi mentioned that he found it endearing how, despite vomiting after her speech, Mitsumi still did her best to move past it.
This trait of Mitsumi is admirable enough that Egoshi “wants to be like this kind of person.”
The voice actor also had some interesting thoughts about Shima. He mentioned how Shima has a warm disposition, though there is still an air of mystery beneath this.
He also said that he’d be happy if fans tuned into the whole series as he promises Shima will undergo major changes as his relationship with Mitsumi grows.

Why Shima Likes Mitsumi in Skip and Loafer
There are no major romantic developments yet, but it is undeniable that Mitsumi and Shima are drawn to each other.
It’s clear that Mitsumi likes Shima for his warmth and supportiveness, and it helps that Shima reminds her of her family dog.
Though it is a bit of a mystery why Shima was drawn instantly to Mitsumi.
Regarding this, Egoshi said that Shima is drawn to Mitsumi because they are polar opposites.
While Shima’s past as a child actor meant he had to grow up fast, Mitsumi had a healthier upbringing.
Because of this, Egoshi feels that Shima being with Mitsumi brings out his inner child, which he had to let go of during his acting days.
Egoshi also believes that this is key to Shima’s growth as a character.
With these in mind, it’ll be interesting to see how Mitsumi and Shima’s relationship evolves as the series progresses.
Thankfully, the wait won’t be long as Skip and Loafer Episode 5 will be released later today.
