What Is Skip and Loafer About?
Iwakura Mitsumi moves from her small town in Ishikawa prefecture to attend a renowned school in Tokyo.
She wants to use her high school time as a training ground for her dream career, which is becoming a public servant.
Mitsumi has planned her life and vows to fulfill her dreams. But she is in for a rude shock when on the first day she misses her train.
Her world comes crashing down when she realizes that the big city of Tokyo can be daunting.
Fortunately, she encounters Shima Sousuke, a first-year student, who helps her out.
Eventually, she becomes friends with Sousuke who is a laid-back and handsome boy.
Is Skip and Loafer a Romance Anime?
Skip and Loafer is a soul-stirring anime that explores a myriad of subjects, including love and romance.
Based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Misaki Takamatsu, Skip and Loafer is, for lack of a better word, refreshing.
In the sea of countless romance titles, Takamatsu has ensured that the characters in the world of Skip and Loafer are kind toward each other
Even if they do something wrong or hurt someone, they eventually realize it. When it comes to romance, the series explores the subject quite organically.
Mitsumi and Sousuke are the two main characters and their relationship is explored in the manga and anime.
Their romance, which never appears forced, is coming from a genuine space.
Skip and Loafer gives importance to the friendship between characters. So, the transition from friendship to perhaps, love between Mitsumi and Sousuke is smooth.
Pretty soon into the anime, it is established that Mitsumi has a tiny crush on Sousuke.
She fell for his kindness and gentle demeanor. Meanwhile, Sousuke is blown away by how motivated Mitsumi is about her life and career.
They are on different ends of the life spectrum, yet they share a mutual respect for each other.
Sousuke and Mitsumi become friends almost instantaneously, but there is never a moment where it appears that they want to date each other.
Mitsumi finds Sousuke sincere as he is someone who understands her and doesn’t brush away her dreams and aspirations.
Also, Skip and Loafer stresses heavily on developing relationships that have no place for toxicity or unnecessary drama.
Skip and Loafer anime’s romance moves effortlessly without any sort of stereotypical romantic plot.
On a fundamental level, Skip and Loafer beautifully showcases the struggles of teenagers and the importance of friends as a support group.
