Was Single's Inferno Scripted? So-Yeon and Hyun-Seung Share New Revelations

Netflix's Single's Inferno may be over after the streamer released all eight episodes of the reality dating show's first season, but fans have been keeping up with the different journeys of its 12 participants (6 men, 6 women), and it's nice to see some of them still collaborate for content since the show ended in January 2022.

Amusingly, while all contestants on Single's Inferno were originally introduced as strangers, Cha Hyum-seung and Kim Hyeon-joong were more than just two people who "worked out together one time" as Heyon-joong revealed in the show. Now, new revelations have been shared in a recent video.

That video is Kang So-yeon's YouTube QnA, in which she and Cha Hyun-seung talked about Single's Inferno and revealed their connection before joining the show. Hyun-seung is known to be a backup dancer who worked with Sunmi and other K-pop idols, but it turns out that he's interacted with So-yeon before.

For those unfamiliar with So-yeon's background, the 33-year-old fitness model and boxing gym owner was a part of he dance group called WE, and fans are wondering if they've connected before.

It turns out that they have, according to So-yeon, who revealed that back when she was an idol, Hyun-seung was almost going to be a backup dancer for her group. They also said that they looked familiar to each other on the set of the reality show but were having a hard time placing one another.

These new revelations shed some light to how Single's Inferno was trying to portray the contestants as strangers to dramatize the "identity revelation" of each participant. For those who haven't watched the show, Single's Inferno puts the 12 participants on a deserted island )referred to as "Inferno"), and they only way they can escape to a luxury hotel (referred to as "Paradise") is if they romantically match for date nights. The 12 singles are only allowed to reveal their age and profession in the hotel, but now, we know that Hyun-seung and So-Yeon interacted with each other before.

As far as we know, no, Single's Inferno is not scripted. Song Ji-a, the most popular star of the show, is now MIA after her controversy involving counterfeit outfits, but after the reality show ended, Song Jia took to her YouTube channel address rumors, and convinced fans that the show was not scripted. However, some fans are still skeptical, as a Redditor explained: "For example, I get the feeling that they made Hyeon-joong and the new guy seem way closer than they actually are. It seemed to me that they were casual friends and workout buddies, but they made it seem like they were BEST friends who had an inseparable bond and fighting to the death over a girl.”

“I promise there wasn’t one. And all the participants acted the way they wanted,” said Ji-a in the video.
