Simu Liu Reacts to Shang-Chi Director Destin Daniel Cretton Helming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty


Destin Daniel Cretton will be a part of a major Marvel Cinematic Universe project in the future, and we're not talking about the sequel to Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. It has just been confirmed that the filmmaker will direct the highly anticipated Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and not surprisingly, Simu Liu is proud of Cretton's involvement in the upcoming Phase 6 film!

It has just been reported that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the next Avengers movie which is set to be a part of the MCU's Phase 6. Fans immediately celebrated the news and it didn't take long before Simu Liu caught wind of the update. To celebrate Cretton's new project, Liu shared a cool story from when they were still new to the MCU.

"Three years ago at SDCC 2019 Destin and I sat backstage at Hall H watching some of the most famous people on Earth take the stage. We looked at each other like 'damn, is this really happening to us right now?'" Liu tweeted. "IT'S F**KING HAPPENING BROTHER!"

It's an interesting look at the past considering that both Liu and Cretton were still unknown back in 2019. Still, it's great to see how far they've come since they both worked on Shang-Chi.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is not the only MCU project that Destin Daniel Cretton will be working on in the future. He has also been confirmed to direct the sequel to Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings which will bring back Simu Liu as the titular hero. However, Shang-Chi 2 was not one of the projects that were announced during Marvel Studios' panel at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

For now, details about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty have not yet been revealed. The film is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
