We already know that Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is getting a sequel but the details about the second film have not yet been revealed. Luckily, we have Simu Liu who is more than happy to share what fans could look forward to in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. Amazingly, Liu points out that his character will be gaining new powers and working with major Marvel characters in the future!
It has already been confirmed that Shang-Chi 2 is happening which was exciting news for fans who wanted to see more of the titular hero. After all, the first film concluded with Shang-Chi and Katy meeting with Wong and Carol Danvers, and we learned that the ten rings are emitting a signal.
So what does this mean for the character? Simu Liu told Complex that the hero will want to learn more about the weapon and the new power he now holds.
"I think just what Shang decides to do with all this newfound power, you know? It kind of consumed his father, consumed Wenwu. I'm curious as to how someone much younger, much more inexperienced, would fare against the rings," Liu said. "Just this idea of all of a sudden being gifted something that's so powerful but also so dangerous."
Liu then added that learning how to wield the ten rings isn't the only thing to look forward to in Shang-Chi 2.
"The other big question I have is, you know, in what way does Shang fit in with the rest of the MCU? Who are you going to see? What kind of crazy team-ups? What kinda tie-ins, Easter eggs?" he asked. Liu then pointed out that he hasn't been told all the details but is already looking forward to finding out soon.
"I'm just as much in the dark and everyone else, so I don't know anything, but I'm excited to dive into that process," he said.
It's cool to know that Simu Liu is just as hyped up about Shang-Chi 2 as the rest of us. For now, the details on the MCU sequel have not yet been revealed. However, we're looking forward to new updates soon.
Shang-Chi 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
