Silver And Black Director Wants Thor: Ragnarok’s Valkyrie To Get Her Own Spinoff

Thor: Ragnarok had a blast during its opening weekend, breaking a number of box office records as it took Marvel fans for a romp with Thor (Chris Hemsworth ), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

Now that the film's set for a great run in theaters, fans are wondering what kind of spinoffs Marvel might make out of the characters in Ragnarok, and it seems like Thompson is hoping that Silver & Black director Gina Prince-Bythewood might want to direct a Valkyrie solo movie.

The filmmaker took to Twitter after watching Thor: Ragnarok to express her admiration for the Asgardian Warrior, calling Thompson's character a "bodied Valkyrie" and a "bad-ass Black female hero." In her post, Prince-Bythewood also calls out for a spinoff, and retweeting the praise given to her, Thompson asks whether the filmmaker would be open to directing.

Prince-Bythewood's call for a spinoff definely doesn't really come as a surprise. Marvel fans might have been initially hesitant of Marvel's decision to cast Thompson as Valkyrie, but after watching her play the part in Ragnarok, fans have nothing but praise for Thompson's rendition of the Asgardian Warrior. We wonder when Valkyrie might get her own Marvel movie.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently screening in cinemas.
