Sigourney Weaver Admits Reading Alien 5 Script Revealing Ellen Ripley's Fate

Although 1979's Alien is best remembered for introducing the terrifying xenomorphs that would change the way audiences see extraterrestrial creatures, the film also turned Sigourney Weaver into one of the best-known action stars in cinematic history. But is there any chance we'll get to see Ellen Ripley again? Weaver has just admitted that there was a script for Alien 5 and it revealed her character's fate.

Weaver was recently featured in Empire's Heroes issue which ranked Ripley as the second best movie hero of all time. Interestingly, the Ghostbusters actress confirmed that producer Walter Hill had penned a short 50-page script for the fifth Alien film and it featured her character's ongoing storyline.

Unfortunately, Weaver did not share any details about Ripley's fate. Even worse, she pointed out that Alien 5 might no longer be happening since Ridley Scott has other plans for the franchise.

"I don't know. Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest," Weaver said.

The Alien 5 screenplay isn't the only discontinued project for the franchise. There were previous reports that Neill Blomkamp would be working on a new Alien film although the project has since been scrapped. For now, it is unclear what will happen with the franchise since Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
