The upcoming Disney+ service has a lot of fans excited, thanks to the number of Marvel and Star Wars projects announced for it. One series that has got fans talking is a rumored Rogue One prequel starring Diego Luna, reprising his role as Cassian Andor. Since this will take place before Rogue One, fans have been wondering if they will see Orson Krennic since he was the villain in that spin-off tale.
Ben Mendelsohn, the actor who played Krennic and will be a Skrull in next year's Captain Marvel, has some interesting thoughts about exploring his Rogue One character's past. He agrees that it should be explored, maybe even in the reported prequel series, but Mendelsohn says it's a role that will probably be better with a younger actor.
"If they were going to do a prequel, if they were wanting to see Orson, I would imagine that the interesting period of Orson would be Orson as a 20 - 30 something, rather than the Orson that we've already encountered. I think probably the interesting period for Orson is as he goes from an idealist to where he ends up. But I think that would be the job for another actor."
Since Mendelsohn is an older actor, it is nice hearing him say that other actors can play roles he has already played. Usually, we wait a while before actors are replaced, though younger roles to old characters are exceptions. It's done wonders for Solo: A Star Wars Story and X-Men: First Class after all.
Details on this Star Wars project are minimal to none since Lucasfilm and Disney are pretty busy working on The Mandalorian, which has a pretty high budget. Given how fans have big expectations for projects concerning this property, we can only assume that it will also be an expensive production for Disney so they'll wait for the money to come in first.
