Oscar Isaac on How Star Wars Episode IX will Handle Leia's Arc in a ‘Beautiful Way’

Carrie Fisher may have died before The Last Jedi came out, but Lucasfilm has decided to use stock footage of her to bring her back for Star Wars Episode IX. Oscar Isaac will be reprising his role as hotshot pilot Poe Dameron, ane he talks a abut about shooting the film without Fisher.

Talking to The Daily Beast, Isaac explains, "It's a strange thing to be on the set and to be speaking of Leia and having Carrie not be around. There's definitely some pain in that." When it comes to Leia's arc being brought to a close with the film, Isaac said, "It deals with the amazing character that Carrie created in a really beautiful way."

While some were sure that the movie was going to open with a funeral for Leia, everyone was surprised when it was said that stock footage will be used in the film to bring her back. Lucasfilm had promised not to bring back Fisher with CGI, and now I'm just thinking that they spoke too soon and put themselves in a corner.

Personally, I would be fine with the movie opening with a funeral for Leia since it doesn't feel like she had any unfinished business with the saga. After Luke's sacrifice, it was just Leia's job to keep the Resistance together. I feel like by the time the film opens, Leia would have already done her job.

But if Abrams and Terrio find a great way to send Fisher off, I would be fine with it. Personally, I hope everyone's guesses online are wrong.
