Summer vacation has come to an end. Shikimori and Izumi are busy with cultural festival preparations despite the fact that the new semester has only just begun.
Shikimori is assigned to the decorating job while Izumi is assigned to the costuming job. They both recall previous cultural festival preparations where they were both assigned to the costuming section. They are currently envious of one another's friends while having fun.
The cultural festival's opening day arrives, and the animal-café booth in Classes 2-4 is off to a good start. The student council holds the traditional Couple Numbers game, in which each student chooses a number at random to match with another person.
Izumi decided on the number 44, and Shikimori vows to find the person whose number is the same as Izumi's.
Meanwhile, Izumi is dressed as a lion, and Shikimori is adorable with her bunny ears.
The animal café is so crowded that Izumi is dizzy from all the incoming orders. Izumi was about to fall from an order slip when Shikimori intervened, catching Izumi and the ice cream.
Shikimori and Izumi walk home together at the end of the first day of the cultural festival.
They discuss how exhausting and enjoyable the first day was. Izumi revealed that he would be assigned to the library the following morning as part of his committee responsibilities. Shikimori cautioned him to be careful of falling books and even shelves!
Shikimori started the next day in the animal café, while Izumi went to the library. Surprisingly, Izumi is paired with Kamiya, another member of the library committee. They'd been working shifts together before, which had helped to relieve the tension in Izumi's mind.
While arranging the books on the shelves, Izumi and Kamiya started talking. They reminisce about the first time they met.
Everything was going swimmingly until Kamiya became interested in Izumi's relationship. She is desperate to learn the details of Shikimori and Izumi's relationship.
Izumi recounts the events of the previous cultural festival. Shikimori and Izumi had previously shared the same couple number. They walked around the school until it was time for their couple photo.
Unfortunately for Izumi, he misplaced his couple number, resulting in their desperate request for the council president to take their picture.
Fortunately, the council president agreed to let them take a photograph. He even wished Izumi luck, knowing full well that the unlucky boy would confess to Shikimori.
Izumi confessed to Shikimori before the day was out, and the two of them finally met.
Shikimori, on the other hand, is becoming concerned about the Couple Numbers game. It turns out that Kamiya, who was with Izumi in the library, has the same number as Izumi.
