Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie Episode 4 Recap
Shikimori and the others are hanging out on the school's rooftop. They are planning a summer vacation after their exams are finished. Izumi recalls how easily he gets sunburned while Shikimori and the others discuss going to the beach.
Izumi only stays under the parasol on one of his childhood trips to stay hydrated and keep his skin away from direct sunlight. This is his issue whenever summer vacation arrives.
Fortunately, Inuzuka suggests another alternative getaway for Izumi's sake. He invites everyone to join him at the river, which is much cooler than the beach.
While Izumi objects, Inuzuka expresses his desire for everyone to enjoy themselves. The group as a whole agrees to go to the river. Shikimori also assures Izumi that she will be by his side at all times.
Shikimori and the others go to the mall to buy swimsuits before exam week. Shikimori refuses to buy a swimsuit until she notices Izumi amusingly looking at a swimsuit advertisement. While the girls go shopping, Inuzuka and Izumi study in the food court.
Nekozaki reminisces about Shikimori not wanting to lose to anyone while shopping. Back in the day, Nekozaki and Shikimori played a basketball game in which the latter lost by a mere margin. While Shikimori appears to Nekozaki as a graceful Japanese beauty, she transforms into a cool and striking heroine who doesn't know when to give up.
The episode then shifts to exam week, where Izumi has a stroke of bad luck because all of his pens broke. To Izumi's chagrin, it took a teacher 15 minutes to figure out what had happened to him. While Shikimori is concerned about Izumi, his boyfriend appears to be taking the situation to a much deeper level.
Shikimori decides to call the sulking Izumi late at night. She also expresses her desire to hear Izumi's voice in order to calm his nerves. The remainder of the call is devoted to their exchange of sweet nothings and conversation about constellations.
Izumi explains that his father frequently takes him out for stargazing, but the weather quickly changes as they arrive. Having said that, Shikimori promises Izumi that she will take him on a stargazing date regardless of what happens.
Shikimori and Izumi's mother are in a cooking class in the episode's post-credits scene. While Shikimori becomes nervous in front of Izumi's mother, the latter horribly calms the former.
Shikimori's nervousness interferes, and Izumi's mother frequently mishandles the knives in front of them. The good news is that Shikimori is on hand to save the day if and when something unfavorable occurs.
