It has been four years since the manga began, and now, the Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie manga is finally about to end in the next volume release.
The manga’s ending was revealed via the series’ official Twitter account. There, it was revealed that Volumes 19 and 20 will be released this April.
It was also announced that Volume 20 will be the final one of the manga.
Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie: A Rom-Com Series That Breaks Gender Stereotypes
Many fans were likely introduced to Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie through the anime series adaptation which aired during the Spring 2022 season.
The Shikimori anime was made by Doga Kobo, the studio behind My Senpai Is Annoying, and the upcoming anime, Oshi no Ko. It ran for 12 episodes and was released in the US and other countries on Crunchyroll.
As with many popular anime titles, the series is based on a manga of the same name.
Written by Keigo Maki, the manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket, an online publication that also serializes works like Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro.
Its story follows Yuu Izumi, a high school student with terrible luck as unfortunate events often strike him when he least expects it.
On the bright side, Izumi is supported by his girlfriend, Shikimori.
While Shikimori is a cute and popular girl, Izumi discovers that she has a cool side to her, which is showcased when she has to protect Izumi from various mishaps.

Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie Manga Ending Date Announced
Given that the manga has been serialized since early 2019, the fact that it lasted four years is already a testament to its appeal. Though the series will sadly end soon.
Recently, the series’ 17th and 18th volumes were released in Japan. Alongside this release, it was announced that Volumes 19 and 20 will mark the end of the series.
These two volumes are set to be released in Japan on April 7, 2023. Because of this, April 7 will also officially mark the end of the manga.
Though fans in the US will have to wait a bit longer for Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie's final volumes.
After all, only the first 11 volumes have been released in English outside Japan as of this article’s writing.
In the meantime, there’s also no word yet on whether the anime series will be renewed for a second season.
