Shia LaBeouf Calls Tranformers Movies 'Irrelevant'

He might not be an "actual cannibal" but Shia LaBeouf can sure make some biting comments. The controversial actor has gone on many a tirade recently, blasting Steven Spielberg and his Transformers director Michael Bay in recent years. It seems like things haven't changed since he has made even more biting comments about the films made to sell toys.

Speaking with Esquire, the Even Stevens star didn't hold back when it came to his thoughts on the Transformers films. While he acknowledges how much Spielberg and Bay have done for him in the past, it's clear that LaBeouf has no plans to work with them anytime soon.

"My hang-up with those films was that they felt irrelevant. They felt dated as f*ck… You come up on these stories about Easy Rider and Raging Bull and De Niro and Scorsese and Hopper, and you find value in what they do. Meanwhile, you're chasing energon crystals. It's very hard to keep doing what you're doing when you feel like it's the antithesis of your purpose on this planet."

Considering how each Transformers film has arguably gotten worse with each installment, it's easy to see where LaBeouf is coming from. Granted, the film has made him a ton of money, so he could be a bit more grateful but you have to give the actor credit for being honest with his thoughts.

The next Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee, will come to cinemas on December 21.
