Transformers Will NOT Be Rebooting After Bumblebee

Reports were coming out yesterday that the Bumblebee spinoff will actually reboot the Transformers movie franchise, but a brand manager from Hasbro seems to confirm that it is not the case.

During a three-hour presentation at Toy Fair New York (via Bleeding Cool), the question was brought up about the movie universe rebooting, and it was answered with:

"Don't believe what you hear, don't worry."

With the information we have on the Bumblebee spinoff, we don't have enough to say that it will start with a rebooted universe. Sure Bee is a Camaro when we meet him in the first Transformers, but we do know that he can change whatever model he is with every movie.

Though the franchise has been having a sour reputation when it comes to fans, Transformers still manages to make a lot of money, so Hasbro would want to keep the movie ball rolling. I don't think a reboot is the answer for it, but the way history is being rewritten by the last movies, it may be the only solution to keeping Transformers feel fresh and new.

Besides, the cartoons get rebooted all the time, and nobody bats an eye with those. Some fans are just happy that the toys keep coming.

Bumblebee hits theaters Dec. 21.
