Shazam’s Dwayne Johnson Teases Big Changes Ahead

More DC films seem to be seeing better progress, compared to the floundering state of Ben Affleck's Batman solo movie.

This time, it's Shazam that gets some progress behind closed doors, as hinted by Shazam star Dwayne Johnson. In his Instagram post, seen below, he announced that he was in a strategic meeting with the heads of DC on where the cinematic universe is going.

"As a hardcore DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN."

This echoes how DC seems to view Wonder Woman's and Aquaman's respective tones as solo movies. Johnson is not alone in hinting at big changes to come in the DC films franchise. Seven Bucks Productions VP Hiram Garcia also hinted at the big changes coming.

Ever since he was confirmed to play the role of Black Adam, Johnson has shared his love for the character. while he remains a villain in the Shazam franchise, Johnson had previously stated that he loved the backstory, if only because Black Adam had risen from being a slave and pushing for an antihero role more than the usual villain.

Shazam is part of the lineup of DC films with Warner Bros. Unlike other DC solo movies, Shazam is still in the early stages with only a speculated 2019 release date as of now.
