Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi was previously accused of being an Anti-Vax advocate given his “hardcore agree” response to a tweet from a COVID-19 conspiracy theorist asking whether Pfizer is a “real danger to the world” amid the pandemic, and now, Levi is yet again under fire for making another controversial post.
The Shazam! 2 star shared on his Instagram story an article from a fake news website with the headline “Millions Who Hashtagged “FreeBritney” Starting To Change Their Opinions On Conservatorships”, in which the article mocks Spears’ public and online behavior after winning against the conservatorship she was under from 2008 to 2021. Britney Spears’ conservatorship has been one of the most popular topics in the entertainment world over the years, and seeing that the singer was released from it in late 2021, this was seen as a successful escape for the pop star’s future along with her fans. Levi showing support on mocking the pop singer’s release led nothing but disgust and disappointment from DC fans:
Things are not looking great for the Shazam! 2 star, especially given that his DC sequel has been forecasted to flop upon its theatrical release, along with the uncertain future that Shazam would find his place somewhere in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU.
Although Gunn has previously addressed concerns in regards to the actor’s alleged Anti-vax support tweet, Levi did respond that his tweet was taken out of context. However, he’s going to have to explain his hot take on Britney Spears this time if he plans on garnering more fans to watch his sequel and hopefully lead to securing his future in the DCU.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated to premiere on March 17, 2023. You can check out more details and updates about it here.
