Major Justice League Cameo Reportedly Happening in Shazam 2

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has yet to confirm on whether Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman returns in his DCU or not, however, a new footage from Shazam! Fury of the Gods seemingly hints at the return of the iconic Amazonian alongside the Shazamily!

DC fans have already assumed the worst on Gadot’s DC future, but the new footage showcasing golden gauntlets with the golden tiara, only one major Justice League member comes to mind. Wonder Woman’s arms could be seen pushing an item towards the ground, perhaps the staff we’ve seen Shazam carrying in the trailer.

There’s a catch, though. This isn’t exactly the Wonder Woman DC fans are expecting. A new press release (via The Direct) revealed that Taylor Cahill is playing a “fake Wonder Woman” in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It is likely that the Wonder Woman tease we saw in the Shazam! sequel’s trailer is not Gadot, but Cahill.

The press release disclosed that one of the songs featured in the film is Wonder Woman’s Theme titled Is She With You? Now, whether or not this gets played as a gag with the fake Wonder Woman in the background remains questionable.

Seeing the familiar theme of playing gags in Shazam, it is possible, though, since they did the same with Man of Steel getting a cameo in the first film’s post-credits scene.

However, despite this confusing role replacement, this could only lead to a positive inclusion and DC future for Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Seeing as James Gunn and Peter Safran are slowly piecing together the interconnected stories of the DCU, it is only a matter of time before we potentially get to witness Gadot’s return. After all, Gadot was initially set to appear as Diana of Themyscira in multiple projects. As for making her appearance in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, nothing has been confirmed yet.

DC Studios’ Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently slated to premiere this coming March 17th.
