Shazam! Star Asher Angel Says Zachary Levi Is 'A Kid' Like Himself

It looks like Asher Angel knows exactly why Zachary Levi was chosen to play his alter ego in Shazam!. The younger counterpart of Billy Batson recently stated that his co-star is both "a kid and an adult," which makes him perfect to play the DC Extended Universe superhero.

Angel recently told Variety that he is happy about the feedback on the Shazam! trailer, which debuted at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con. When asked why Levi is the perfect Shazam, the Andi Mack star joked that it was because of the Thor: Ragnarok actor's resemblance to Angel.

"Zach, you're the perfect Shazam because, I mean, we look alike, kind of, but he's funny, we have a lot in common. I mean, he's really a kid too. So he's a kid and an adult. Zach, I love you, buddy. I can't wait for what's to come and you're the best."

OK, so they might not look like twins but Angel and Levi could definitely play brothers in a different film. Additionally, people have been saying that the Chuck star's portrayal of a young boy who is suddenly imbued with superpowers is spot-on. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to seeing both of them in Shazam!.

The highly anticipated DCEU movie also stars IT actor Jack Dylan Grazer, who will play Billy's foster brother Freddy Freeman. Freddy will help Billy control his powers to become a truly effective superhero.

Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg and is scheduled for release on April 5, 2019.
