Here’s Why The Rock’s Black Adam Won’t Be Making An Appearance In The DCEU’s Shazam!

Black Adam and Shazam might both be closely tied to one another in DC Comics, but Warner Brothers has long since let fans know that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam wouldn't be appearing in Zachary Levi's Shazam! standalone, instead starring in his own Black Adam movie.

Now, fans finally have the reason why The Rock's version of Black Adam wasn't allowed to appear in the upcoming Shazam! movie.

Speaking in an interview with Collider, Seven Bucks Production's president Hiram Garcia decided to explain the reason why the studio decided to separate Black Adam and Shazam, giving the two their own movies instead of allowing the two to appear together in one standalone.

"As we were developing an actual Black Adam and Shazam movie, we were just realizing that both characters are so special that we didn't want to compromise either of them by cramming them both into the same movie. So that's why we made the decision to let Shazam have his own standalone movie and kind of launch him properly, and then we'll do the same for Black Adam. And so that kind of really freed things up. It allowed us to develop the right version of both."

Right now there's a whole light of excitement over Levi's upcoming standalone movie, Shazam!. Warner Brothers released the trailer for the film during the same week as this year's San Diego Comic-Con back in July and fans can't wait to see the Shazam wiggle his little tush again, this time on the big screen.

Meanwhile, The Rock's Black Adam is slowly being worked on and it looks like the studio's main focus right now is the script which the film's creative team is trying to keep to Black Adam's grit and ferocity.

Black Adam doesn't have a release date just yet, but Shazam! is already set to release on April 5, 2019.
