Shazam! Fury of the Gods Teaser Drops Awesome Game of Thrones Reference

We're only a few months away from the premiere of Shazam! Fury of the Gods and a new teaser has just been dropped to hype up the highly anticipated DC sequel. Interestingly, there's a Game of Thrones reference in the new TV spot and it's a hilarious one for Daenerys Targaryen fans.

The new Shazam 2 teaser features more footage of the villains who will be introduced in the sequel. For instance, it is confirmed that Rachel Zegler's character Anthea will play an important role as the daughters of Atlas go up against the Shazam family. We also get to see more of the mysterious dragon that Billy Batson will be fighting.

It's a great tease at what to expect in Fury of the Gods and not surprisingly, there's a hilarious reference in the TV spot. As the dragon attacks, Billy taunts the dragon by shouting, "Hey, Khaleesi!"

It's a bit off considering that Daenerys Targaryen aka Khaleesi was not an actual dragon herself in Game of Thrones. Still, she was known as the Mother of Dragons so it's pretty close. Either way, it's great to see that the hit HBO series was once again being referenced in a major project.

This isn't the first time that Shazam has made a reference to Game of Thrones. In the first film, Freddy Freeman jokes about his foster family being like the characters in the fantasy series. Needless to say, it confirms that Game of Thrones exists in the DC Universe.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is directed by David F. Sandberg and will bring back Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, and Djimon Hounsou. They will be joined by Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren, who will play the villainous daughters of Atlas.

Shazam 2 will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
