There is little doubt that people are curious about the new characters that will be introduced in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Luckily, we already know who Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are playing in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick. But who will Rachel Zegler portray in the sequel? The Westside Story star has just teased the mysterious identity of her character in the film.
Zegler was one of the new stars confirmed to join Shazam 2. However, unlike Mirren and Liu, her character remains undisclosed. This prompted fans to begin speculating about who Zegler will play in the movie.
Interestingly, Zegler has heard of all those speculations and decided to weigh in on her character's identity. During an Instagram Live, the actress commented on the wide variety of guesses.
"Everyone thinks they do which is really funny and they're all wrong, which is why it's hilarious," Zegler said.
There is a good reason why no one has guessed Zegler's role just yet. There is a possibility that the Snow White actress is playing a completely new character who doesn't exist in the comic books, just like Mirren and Liu.
Zegler was previously spotted filming a scene with Jack Dylan Grazer, who returns as Freddy Freeman in Shazam 2. The costume Zegler is wearing appears to be that of a goddess. With that in mind, she might be playing one of Atlas' daughters and a sister to Mirren's Hespera and Liu's Kalypso.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods also stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, and Djimon Hounsou. The sequel is currently in production and is scheduled for release on June 2, 2023.
