Shazam! Director Teases the Movie for April Fools

Shazam! is set to come out April of next year, and though the movie is still in production, director David F. Sandberg has thought it would be fun to tease fans with a mock trailer for April Fools.

Check it out:

Though the trailer may seem legit at first, it actually just features footage from the old Shazam TV show. To those who are also confused, the ‘Rise of the Ponysmasher' subtitle it just a reference to Sandberg's Twitter handle (which is Ponysmasher).

Even if the trailer is fake, I can't help but feel that ACDC's Thunderstruck is going to be part of the marketing material. The song is definitely fitting for a hero like Captain Marvel and his powers, and it's worth noting that Thor: Ragnarok did the same thing with The Immigrant Song; they even used it in the actual movie twice.

We don't know when we're going to get our first look at Shazam! but a good guess is sometime later this year. With the DCEU taking some downtime after Justice League, WB looks like they're going to make up for it next year by releasing a handful of movies.

Catch Shazam! in theaters April 5, 2019.
