Shazam! Director Hilariously Shades Star Wars, Batman

Shazam! is getting a ton of positive early reviews and while director David F. Sandberg had time to respond to all the love the film has been getting online, he isn't too busy to throw some shade at some other massive franchises too.

On Instagram, he called out Batman and well, wanted to compare sizes of their sick rides. He thinks the Caped Crusader's iconic Batmobile is probably too stuffy especially compared to what DC's very own Captain Marvel himself drives--a much roomier bus with his face on it!

It is not just Batman though. He also went after the galaxy far, far away's most iconic siblings. Sandberg had a side-splitting exchange with a fan who expressed worry that Shazam! will make Billy and Mary a couple and not the siblings that they actually are. He eased his worries while shading Star Wars in the process.

"No there's no romance between Billy and his sister in the movie if that's your fear. We're not Star Wars," he quipped.

Of course, Sandberg was referring to what was teased to be romance between Luke and Leia in A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back before it was revealed that they were actually twins. Granted, the two didn't know that until Return of the Jedi. Fans think that Star Wars creator George Lucas himself didn't know it too at the time. As a result, the kiss Luke and Leia shared became one of the most unforgettable moments in the galactic franchise and all of cinema.

As for Shazam!, the film is generally loved by critics, so fans are thrilled about the future of the DC Extended Universe. The edgiest and hilarious of them even created artwork depicting the four gods of DCEU namely Sandberg, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, Aquaman director James Wan, and the so-called forefather Zack Snyder.

Apart from making quips, Sandberg also recently gushed about Marvel's version of Captain Marvel on his Instagram after seeing a poster of the Brie Larson film back to back with Shazam!.

While the two are being pitted against each other for their name and overlapping release dates, DC folks have shown their support for Larson's film.

Shazam! hits the theaters April 5.
