The DCEU is gearing up for the release of Aquaman this December, but some fans are looking to next year for the release of Shazam!. SDCC gave us a fantastic trailer, and we're curious when the next one is going to come out. Director David F. Sandberg gives us an update.
When asked by a fan on when the next Shazam! trailer is coming out Sandberg replied:
I'll be honest, though the DCEU may have been banking on Aquaman being the biggest movie of SDCC, Shazam! ended up with the better trailer. Then again, both of them were blown out of the water by Godzilla: King of Monsters; the idea to use Claire de Lune as the music was just inspired.
Like I said, WB is currently working on pushing Aquaman this December, but I won't be surprised if we get a second trailer for Shazam! before the year ends. With the film coming out in April, I guess we're going to have the second trailer drop after the premiere of Aquaman, with a third and final trailer coming sometime in 2019. Maybe by then we can also get our first look at Todd Phillips' Joker film as well.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word - SHAZAM! - this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult superhero Shazam.
Shazam! hits theaters April 5, 2019.
