The role of young Billy Batson has finally been cast in DC's Shazam! movie, and actors Zachary Levi and Asher Angel share a photo of themselves together. It looks like the DCEU train is picking up some steam when it comes to building up their universe.

Some fans maybe curious to why Angel got the part despite not looking like Levi at all, but fans have to remember that Captain Marvel is not an older Billy Batson, but his own supernatural form. Batson just has the ability to transform into him.
With Marvel Studios releasing their own Captain Marvel movie in 2019, I'm curious on what approach DC is going for when they name Levi's character in the film. It's a smart move calling the movie Shazam!, but you can't name the superhero "Shazam" as well. I mean, that's supposed to be the secret word that Batson uses to transform. He can't just have people calling him that.
As of now, DC looks to have a very blank slate for 2018 with only the Aquaman solo movie set to come out in December. Hopefully, after the release of Justice League, WB will be able to assess their plans better and give us release dates for solo films like Batgirl, Green Lantern Corps, Suicide Squad 2, and Nightwing.
Shazam! is set for a release April 5, 2019.
