Sharkboy and Lavagirl Sequel Teaser Pits Pedro Pascal Against Aliens

The sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl in 3-D is coming and we finally have the first teaser for We Can Be Heroes. Interestingly, the new film immediately pits The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal against some nasty aliens while some super-powered kids show off their amazing skills.

The We Can Be Heroes teaser opens with Pascal's character facing off against hundreds of strange aliens as he declares, "We need to stop them, we've never dealt with anything like this before." Interestingly, he's not alone. Lavagirl also shows up to join the action but they are immediately defeated and taken away by the aliens.

So who are the real heroes of the film? We are introduced to a little girl playing with floating water as she admits, "My mommy is Lavagirl but my daddy is Sharkboy." However, Priyanka Chopra's character is clearly unimpressed. Nevertheless, it looks like the little girl and her super-powered companions will be getting into the action soon.

The synopsis for We Can Be Heroes reads as follows:

"When alien invaders kidnap Earth's superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno (Yaya Gosselin) will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno (Pedro Pascal). Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). If they're going to save their parents, they'll have to work together by using their individual powers — from elasticity to time control to predicting the future — and form an out-of-this-world team."

We Can Be Heroes is directed by Robert Rodriguez and also stars Boyd Holbrook, Christian Slater, Chris McDonald, and Adriana Barraza. The film will premiere on Netflix on New Year's Day 2021.
