After his work on Alita: Battle Angel, director Robert Rodriguez is coming back to the world of Sharkboyand Lavagirl with Netflix's upcoming We Can Be Heroes. While an appearance from SB and LG were rumored earlier, Netflix has just confirmed that both characters will be in the movie—and they'll have a kid of their own.
Check them out:
While it's great that Taylor Dooley has been brought back to reprise the role of Lavagirl, it looks like Taylor Lautner won't be coming back for Sharkboy; heck, they even gave him a mask just so it wouldn't be so obvious that Lautner wasn't back. As for their daughter, she's played by Bird Box's Vivien Lyra Blair.
Other actors coming to the film include Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Priyanka Chopra (Baywatch), Christian Slater (Mr. Robot), and Boyd Holbrook (Logan). I wouldn't be surprised if there was an Antonio Banderas cameo hiding in the film as well.
Though Rodriguez is known for his campy films, one other kind of movie that he's known for making is these CG-heavy family action movies. Though they are kind of hard to watch now, a lot of adults do admit that they grew up with the likes of Spy Kids and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
When alien invaders kidnap Earth's superheroes, their children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.
We Can Be Heroes is set to come out on New Year's Day Jan. 1, 2021 on Netflix.
