Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Reacts To Martin Scorsese's Marvel Film Comments

Martin Scorsese certainly has everyone talking after he stated that Marvel films are "not cinema" and likened the comic book movies to theme parks. While most people are focusing on the first part of the filmmaker's comments, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu is offering his two cents on the second part of Scorsese's statement.

Liu took to Twitter to point out why theme parks are so much fun. Take a look at his tweet below.

"I've always loved theme parks. Theme parks are inclusive; theme parks are full of happiness and joy and laughter and dancing. Did I mention they have churros?!" Liu wrote. "Just my two cents :)"

OK, we can't really argue with that kind of reasoning. I mean, churros can win any type of argument. Interestingly, Liu's description of theme parks fits perfectly with how Marvel Cinematic Universe films work, except we haven't seen churros in the MCU yet. Perhaps that will change with Shang-Chi?

Liu isn't the only one who has reacted to Scorsese's Marvel comments. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also commented on how Scorsese is judging movies he hasn't seen.

"Martin Scorsese is one of my 5 favorite living filmmakers. I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. I'm saddened that he's now judging my films in the same way," Gunn wrote.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled for release on February 12, 2021.
