Shang-Chi Plot Reportedly a Major Rip-Off of Mortal Kombat

There might not be that much news about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings now that Marvel's been forced to shut down the production of its upcoming films to help curb the persistent spread of the novel coronavirus, however, there are quite a number of rumors about the film.

One of the most recent reports sounds rather alarming. New rumors have been circulating suggesting that Shang-Chi might actually be a rip-off of the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie.

YouTube reviewer Grace Randolph has just recently shared a video accusing Marvel's first Asian-led comic book movie to be a rip off of Mortal Kombat. The rumored plot for Shang-Chi is supposedly nothing like what's been featured in Marvel comics. Instead, reports say that Shang-Chi will have The Mandarin send the hero to a fighting tournament to win the Ten Rings – a story very similar to that of Mortal Kombat.

"Does that sound familiar to you?" Grace questions. "That's Liu Kang and Shang-Tsung."

Shang-Chi is reportedly going to go up against Marvel characters from all sorts f backgrounds, from Marvel fighters to magic users. Marvel is also going to turn Shang-Chi into an orphan in the upcoming movie, just like Liu Kang is in Mortal Kombat.

If these rumors are true, then Shang-Chi will have a lot of similarities to Mortal Kombat. Of course, there's a great probability that the movie won't turn out anything like what's been reported, so we'll have to wait and see what.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set for release on May 7, 2021.
