Shang-Chi Opens Box Office With $8.8 Million

The day of the release of the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has arrived and it did not disappoint at all as the first theater exclusive movie of Marvel opens the box office with $8.8 Million in the bag on its premiere night.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings did not follow the footsteps of Black Widow with the way it has been released as it opened only exclusive to theaters. It does not have a Disney+ Premier Access release limiting it to the cinemas and the big screen.

Despite the ongoing threat of the pandemic as the Delta variant of COVID is shaking the world, the theater industry is slowly picking itself up and movies are starting to get an exclusive cinema release. One of these films is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and it did not disappoint as it bagged $8.8 Million on its premiere night this Thursday.

Looking at the trend, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is expected to do more in this opening weekend considering that it is off to a really strong start.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings form part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and introduce the titular character, his origins, and the arrival of the real Mandarin, the villain teased as early as Iron Man 3. The film is an action-packed one as martial arts are involved, and the new addition to the MCU surely has more in store for him.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tony Leung as Wenwu/The Mandarin, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Awkwafina as Katy, Meng'er Zhang as Xialing, and Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now out in theaters.
